VIDEO CONTENTS:
[0:00] Introduction & The yarn
presoak the yarn in plain tap water for at least 30 min with no acid in there yet.
[2:47] Colors for the base layer
Deep Magenta & Caribbean Blue
Measure out 15 mL of each color twice (1T of color) using 1% stock solutions. Add water (~200 mL total volume eyeballing it) to fill the cups up and have our dye in more volume.
We will be dyeing 200 g yarn in each container - 2 sock blanks or 2 100 g skeins
[6:05] Dyeing the base layer
in each shoebox. 200 g yarn, 8 cups of water. No acid to start. Add the pink and blue dye. Then add 2T vinegar before blue dye. Add 3 more T vinegar after the blue dye is in Work the colors through and wait 24 hours
[12:06] The glazing set up
Two dyebaths, each with 24 cups of water. Add 300+ mL of white vinegar.
50 mL of 1% stock of dark navy to each pot.
[13:36] our cold process yarn
24 hours after adding the dye
[16:11] Glazing the yarn
heat for 60 minutes starting cold.
[17:15] Why I picked my conditions
[18:45] removing the yarn from the dyepots
[20:22] washing the yarn
wait for things to cool off completely
[22:20] The finished dry yarn
[25:20] An unraveled blank!
