Twice a month, the Feldbahn Museum near Rebstock opens their doors and lets you get up close to these wonderful old steam engines.
They also offer steam train rides in Frankfurt, like the Teddy Bear ride, Nikolaus ride, Scary Lantern ride, etc. on certain days. Check the website or the list of dates at the end of the video.
The museum is open without train rides on the 1st Sat. of the month from 14:00-17:00 and the 1st Friday of the month from 17:00-19:00.
I thought it was a fun day and all the kids that were there seem to be having fun too. The museum itself has some historic old photos as well as equipment. Plenty of photographers were there too as it was a good chance to get up close to all the steam engines.
It was easy to get to with public transportation and there was parking near-by. I took bus 34, but there were other buses stopping here too.
