My name is Xanthe. I am an artist with a science degree and an interest in colour.
I said "light shades" when "tints" not "shades" would be more accurate. I avoid light colours with lipsticks.
My skintone is medium, warm-leaning neutral olive. Which means that at times, I can have obvious yellow or greenish characteristics with my skintone. More obvious if I am compared with those with light skintones. Also, a slightly muted characteristic with my colouring.
Swatching my lipstick collection. Been collecting lipsticks, so this is the most lipsticks I have had at once, ever.
Still, a very modest collection.
Have done a colour theory approach, with comparing approximate hue (red, magenta), value (medium to deep), chroma (intense to muted) using a colour globe model.
The model has CMY/RGB (cyan, magenta, yellow, red, green, blue) hues.
All of my lipsticks fall in the red to magenta range. Red is warmer, magenta is cooler. I tend to avoid lipsticks which are too warm (orange), too cool (violet-blue), too bright, or too light pale.
I tend to suit lipsticks in a deep red hue best (brownish reds) and warm-leaning deep, muted pinks and plums. I often mix my lipstick colours together.
If I want to wear an outfit which leans 'cooler' such as berries and plums, I would choose a lip colour which leans more towards magenta. Slightly muted (brownish) suit be better than bright or high chroma.
I have been uploading some shorts comparing some lipsticks tried on my lips. Just swatched onto my arm with this video.
Red is my most complimented colour with clothing. However, I rarely wear a higher chroma red lipstick. I will blot it with a tissue.
Forgot to show the Rum Raisin but it's here.
