Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating a Law Enforcement Related Injury (LERI) that occurred in Rampart Division.

On August 10, 2025, at around 7:40 p.m., Rampart Division uniformed officers responded to a family dispute radio call at a residence in the 500 block of Kensington Road. The comments of the call indicated a restraining order was on file and the suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Jeffrey Mayorga, had a felony warrant for an Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW).

As officers arrived at the residence, they made contact with Mayorga who was standing outside holding a skateboard. The officers repeatedly verbalized with Mayorga to drop the skateboard or force may be used. Mayorga failed to comply with the officers’ commands and attempted to re-enter the residence when a Non-Categorical Use of Force occurred during which an officer deployed several rounds from a Beanbag Shotgun.

Mayorga was taken into custody without further incident and transported to a local hospital, where he was admitted for an injury to his head as a result of the Beanbag deployment.

No other community members or officers were injured as a result of this incident.
