AUTHENTIC DAL GHOSHT RECIPE | MUTTON-LENTIL STEW

Making this recipe in Gulmarg was so much fun!!
Ingredient:
1/3 cup oil
2 medium onion
2 tomatoes
1 cup mix of chana and masoor dal (soaked and boiled, cooked to 70%)
500 gms mutton (curry cut)
1/2 cup fried onions
3 dried red chillies
• Spices
1 tbsp red chili or to taste
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tbsp coriander powder
Salt to taste
2-3 cups water Amount may vary depending upon the type of pressure cooker.
• Garnish
Green chilies
Chopped Tomatoes
Fried onions
Instructions
Add lentils to a bowl, wash soak your lentils for at least 30 minutes and boil them until they are 70% cooked.
In a cooker add oil, onions, mutton and salt.
Fry the mutton until it changes colour and all the water released, dries up.
Add tomatoes and spices. Cook for a few minutes.
Add dried chillies and fried onions. Then add water and pressure cook the mutton until it’s almost 80% done.
Now add the dal and again pressure cook until the meat is tender.
If the lentil/dal is too thick, add more water to adjust the consistency.
Garnish and enjoy.
