George Davis, violinist with Country Dancers of Westchester for many years (seen in the last frame of this video), wrote the tune for this dance by Fried Herman, a lively mixer in square formation, published in Ease and Elegance in 1992. The church is the long-time home of CDW, where the group now dances on most Thursday nights and where it will celebrate its 40th anniversary in November 2014.
The dance is a mixer that ends with a partner swing. I was especially pleased that each couple ends their swing in time for the next round and that all dancers use a skip change step for the heys, just as Fried specifies in her instructions. Particular thanks are due to the dancers of the 2014 Lenox Assembly, who show off Fried's choreography with such verve, and to the musicians, who rendered George's tune with great energy and lift: Karen Axelrod, keyboard; Doug Creighton, flute; and Eric Martin, violin.
