Rock Stanley, a 75-year-old former Marine from Texas was an experienced hiker. He visited Mount Charleston once a year for the last three decades to hike. He normally walked the trails with a partner but on Tuesday, 8/23/22, Rock Stanley decided to go solo and has not been seen since.
With my experience I had to try and look for him so I trekked up to the mountain myself to where he was last seen to look for clues. While I was there, I found the high elevations and rough terrain were very different than the wide-open desert I was used to and more than a little unforgiving.
