Xerión (Spain) — Lamento Luminescente — 2021 EP

The 45th release (if I counted it right) from these Galician long runners from the Negro Círculo Minhoto collective.

Xerión side of a split with Ereshkigal (México)

Their trademark blend of folk songs using acoustic instruments, piano, guitar or bagpipe (the first, third and fifth track) and black metal. They excel in both and show the duality of this genre with the aggression and negativity on one side but also the beautifully uplifting side of it.
The fourth track, more atmospheric than the others is something else, my favourite black metal song, but the acoustic tracks also are amazing piece. The last is definitely marvellous, a melancholic bagpipe song that calls for forest spirits and ancient deities lost in time.
