People told me NOT to go to XINJIANG. I went anyway. And what I saw baffled me: Ice cream vendors using Russia's president Putin as marketing gimmick 🤬, young people that had never seen an outsider 😨 and of course lots of mouth-watering food.
Join me on my trip from Zharkent (Kazakhstan) 🇰🇿 to Yining in the far northwest of China 🇨🇳. After exploring Zharkent, one of the easternmost cities of Kazakhstan, I head to Khorgos, the world's biggest land port, which is also a major stopover on the new silk road. And finally, I will make my way all the way up to Yining in Xinjiang Province.
