Reaching the Light: Living with Major Depressive Disorder

Major Depressive Disorder affects over 17 million American adults. 'Reaching the Light' highlights the lived experiences of three individuals living with major depressive disorder and the stigma that follows it. Made possible by funding from Otsuka and Lundbeck.

In this short documentary video, Kimberly, Katrina, and Paul share each of their stories about how they became diagnosed with major depressive disorder and how they've been able to overcome their mental health challenges.

We are thrilled to announce that a companion film, 'Reaching the Light Together,' will premiere on May 1, 2025 in observation of #MentalHealthMonth. 'Reaching the Light Together' will share additional lived-experience stories from Krystal and Miskat, two individuals living with major depressive disorder, as well expert insights from Krystal's healthcare provider, Dr. Gregory Mattingly, MD.
