Tasting Lampreia de Ovos: a Portuguese Christmas treat

We are tasting Lampreia de Ovos, a Portuguese Christmas treat. It is Christmas Eve and we are in Albufeira, Portugal. We ran into this interesting holiday sweet in the grocery store, and had no idea what it was. We love trying unfamiliar foods and treats while we travel, and a Christmas-specific treat was impossible to resist. Have you tried this before? Do you think you'd like it?
