What We Built
We built SENTINEL v10.0, a real-time emergency command system created in Google AI Studio that brings together live disaster telemetry, AI reasoning, and tactical decision tools into a single, resilient dashboard. The prototype demonstrates how national emergency teams can move from raw data to decisive action within seconds during earthquakes and other large-scale crises.
At its core, SENTINEL is designed to address a real-world problem: disaster response is often slowed by fragmented tools, delayed analysis, and unclear operational guidance. By combining AI analysis, multimodal inputs, geospatial visualization, and simulation tools, SENTINEL shows how a unified platform can support faster, smarter, life-saving decisions.
1. Real-Time Situational Awareness
The system continuously pulls live earthquake data from the USGS GeoJSON feed and displays it on a high-contrast command map. Threat indicators, magnitude-based visuals, and a historical “Time Travel” mode allow operators to instantly understand severity, location, and potential risk patterns.
This demonstrates how AI-assisted dashboards can enhance human situational awareness in high-pressure environments.
2. AI Impact Engine
When a high-magnitude event occurs, the AI Impact Engine—powered by Gemini prompts in Google AI Studio—autogenerates critical insights such as:
Shockwave radius
Countdown to secondary waves
Estimated civilian exposure
Severity-based threat interpretation
Instead of just plotting data, the system interprets it, showing how advanced AI reasoning can translate raw telemetry into meaningful, actionable intelligence.
3. Tactical Response Tools
The platform includes interactive modules that simulate how command teams would coordinate during a crisis:
Evacuation path modeling to nearby safe zones
Logistics & rescue deployment lines for rapid mobilization
Communications blackout simulation to reflect infrastructure failure
AI-generated action recommendations for the command team
These tools highlight how a single interface can merge geospatial modeling, operational planning, and AI decision support—demonstrating technical depth without relying on any “fake” elements.
4. Readiness & Training Mode
SENTINEL also doubles as a training simulator. A dedicated Drill Mode disables live data and injects mock crisis scenarios, allowing operators to practice responses. The system tracks their decisions, reaction times, and choices, then generates an After-Action Report.
This shows the platform’s versatility and creative use of AI: not just reacting to disasters, but preparing teams for them.
Together, these components illustrate how real-time data, advanced reasoning, and intuitive visualization can come together to create a practical, forward-looking emergency management system with the potential for meaningful real-world impact.
