Welcome back to Part 2 of our remote camping mission in the Far North Queensland Outback! In this episode, we’re up early to pull the nets and straight away we’re into some massive red claw crayfish, some of the biggest we’ve caught this entire trip.
From pulling nets at sunrise, to navigating rapids, to cooking fresh red claw right on the riverbank, this day turned into one of the best catch & cook sessions we’ve ever had. With temps pushing close to 40°C, we set up under the trees, built a fire, and made our favourite chilli and garlic red claw recipe while cooling off beside the river.
We also explore new parts of the creek, reset nets in deeper shady pockets, and push further across the causeway where we end up hooking into even more big red claw early the next morning. There’s wildlife everywhere, crystal-clear water, ochre stone on the riverbank, and some seriously good FNQ bush vibes all around us.
If you enjoy catch & cook, outback camping, bushcraft, 4x4 exploring, kayaking, and off-grid living, you’re going to love this one. This is real, raw Australian outback living, simple campfire meals, remote river systems, and chasing monster red claw in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.
