Kangaroo meat on the market is harvested in the wild so that Australians can control the kangaroo species with abundant population. It is very high in protein but extremely low in fat (only about 2%), and because kangaroo meat tastes somewhat like beef, it can be used for making a variety of dishes. Generally Aussie meat pie is made in hand-size, but I chose to make it a bit bigger so I can enjoy my day :)

cheddar cheese 112.5g
butter 112.5g
cold water 187.5mL
1 egg

캥거루고기는 모두 야생 캥거루를 사냥해서 생산되고 유통되는 것인데, 캥거루의 미친듯한 개체수 증가로 (약 호주 인구의 2배) 개체수 조절이 필수라고 합니다. 캥거루고기는 고단백질에 지방은 2% 정도로 다이어트나 운동을 하시는 분들께 좋은 식품이라고 하네요. 캥거루는 맛이 살짝 소고기와 비슷해기 때문에 소고기 대신 사용해서 이것저것 요리할 수 있습니다. 호주식 고기파이는 손바닥 만한 것이 일반적이지만 저는 고기파이를 좋아해서 이걸로 두 끼는 먹고 싶어 좀 크게 만들어봤어요 :)
