We are proud to be a part of the NEWGEN EU-project, developing the new generation of insulating polypropylene materials for HVDC cable systems!
The overall objective of NEWGEN is to develop and demonstrate new insulation materials, cable manufacturing solutions, online condition monitoring technologies, and comprehensive life and reliability modelling tools for next-generation of extruded high voltage direct current (HVDC) cables and cable systems, thereby fostering the reliability and resilience of the inter-connected European HVAC/-DC transmission grids.
At SuperGrid Institute, our mission in the project is to study and develop high-performance materials suitable for high dielectric stress in DC cables and accessories as well as innovative methods and testing capabilities for the monitoring, the characterisation and testing of DC cables and accessories.
