The First Bicycle Street in Helsinki || Here in Helsinki

Major part of Kulosaaren puistotie boulevard was rebuilt into a bicycle street in 2020 as part of Itäbaana cycling route (8) which connects eastern districts and the city centre. This 1,1 km section opened in 2021 and has been in great use ever since by commuters and leisure cyclists.

Itäbaana is just one of the many high quality cycle routes (baana) planned in Helsinki. The Baana network is expanding every year with new sections under construction in many parts of the region.
