Motorcycle Trip to Mongolia - Ulan Bator & Genghis Khan Statue | Season 1| Episode 10

Part 9 of our motorcycle trip to Mongolia was in Ulan Bator and Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue. Was really interesting to see this city. I have heard so many different stories and legends about it. All of them were far far away from the truth. Ulan Bator is very big (1.5 million people) and modern city. There is everything. From new and fancy glass and steel buildings to very old Buddhist temples and poor geto. You will find of course all international brands, include Mc Donald's, Starbucks, Burger king and many more. Almost every where are moving only brand new and expensive cars, like Toyota Land cruiser or BMW X 5. The main "Genghis Khan square" is really impressive to see and the buildings around show everything , but no poverty. Of course when you move away from the centre, you will see the poor neighbourhoods with yurts and looking like barracks houses. Genghis Khan monument is located 30km East from the city and to go there you need something like an hour. It is only asphalt road. The statue is 40 m high and it is made from Stainless steel.
