ABOUT "LANDMARKS"
The Marionettes Chorale staged their 50th anniversary production, LANDMARKS, in July 2013 at the Queen’s Hall, Trinidad, in the Caribbean. The Marionettes was the first choir formed in a newly independent Trinidad & Tobago back in 1963, and remains the islands' longest-surviving choir. The LANDMARKS programme revisited some of their proudest moments, including award-winning performances at local and international competition; Caribbean premieres; and classic arrangements of Caribbean and African diaspora favourites (often specially arranged by Desmond Waithe).
Performing are some of the group’s best-loved soloists (among them Jacqueline Johnson, Feryal Qudourah, Hermina Charles, Garfield Washington, Marlon De Bique, Ayrice Wilson, Leah Lewis, and many more), as well as the Marionettes Youth Chorale (founded in 1995), and Children’s Choir (founded just last year), under the batons of Musical Director Gretta Taylor and Assistant Musical Director Dr. Roger Henry; and the stewardship of Assistant Artistic Director Caroline Taylor, and Production Manager — and founder member — Joanne Mendes.
The series also marked the launch of a companion double-CD of the same name (https://www.marionetteschorale.com/js....
