Hiking Spruce Flats Falls in the Great Smoky Mountains!

Join me on a nice morning journey to Spruce Flats Falls in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! In this video, I take you along the scenic yet moderately challenging trail that leads to one of the most lovely waterfalls in the Smokies. The trail and the falls do not appear on a lot of the GSMNP maps as this trail is unmaintained by the park service. As a result, this isn't the most popular falls in the park, but that doesn't mean plenty of people do not get out to it. The trail is short, but is considered moderate due to the terrain (it's rocky in places) and elevation gain (there are some steep climbs/descents). The setting is amazing, however, and many hikers choose to take a dip in the shallow waters below the main falls, especially during the summer months.

There is an upper falls and several other significant surrounding waterfalls in the area, but those require some off trail hiking and I did not have time for those adventures on this visit - perhaps in the future!
