From their initial meeting in season 4, Commander Chakotay and Seven of Nine were connected from the start as he was the one who personally disconnected her from the Borg Collective. Their admiration, glances, and eventual warming up to eachother throughout the series was evident and sweet. He was able understood her in a way no crewman could and helped her understand true love and what it was like to be loved. Episodes like "Scorpion Part II", "Survival Instinct", "One Small Step", "Human Error", "Natural Law" and "Endgame" gave good glimpses into their budding friendship and eventual romance. A flirtatious and vivacious couple matched with the excellent chemistry between actor Robert Beltran and actress Jeri Ryan. In the beginning of their deepening relationship, Seven was too shy to admit her love for Chakotay, thus using a hologram of him to learn love in "Human Error" - but what she did not know was that the real Chakotay actually liked her. By the time of "Natural Law" these two grew closer eventually placing their barriers down and entering a romantic union in the series finale "Endgame". During the last moments we saw these two together, Seven of Nine began to worry about her relationship with Chakotay as she pondered if something harmful would come to either of them. In return, Chakotay said "nobody can guarantee what will happen tomorrow....the only certainty is how we feel about each other here and now." In my opinion, their romance was a fine example of a sweetly portrayed and written couple 💘
