Anne Kershen is Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Migration at Queen Mary University of London, as well as the centre’s founder.
Her book, Uniting The Tailors (1995), begins with a detailed pan-sector perspective on the often harsh working conditions of tailors in London and Leeds between 1870 and 1939, followed by a comprehensive study on the proceeding activism which culminated in successive union amalgamations, reconciling class and ethnic divisions within our trade and country. This book speaks to many great developments, but the most impressive amongst which today, might be the remarkable efficacy of our past concertation.
Anne was generous enough to invite us into her home in the summer of 2025, to answer the T&C’s questions about her research.
