Dean's 2nd driving lesson with Bob

Dean decides he wants to work on hill starts, manoeuvres and roundabouts. The subject of mirrors was also raised as this was one of the items highlighted by Deans test examiner. It was agreed this would also be reviewed as part of the lesson. Dean really starts to become empowered in this lesson, responding to the student centred approach by taking more responsibility for his own development.

Unlike traditional instruction LDC heavily promotes student centred learning rather than the instructor centred fault orientated learning approach offered by most other driving schools. This involves the student being encouraged to take more responsibility for their own development by using the LD System materials before and after each lesson and by using discovery learning with self determination and reflection; rather than being continually criticized and told what to do by the instructor. In particular talk through instruction, prompted practice and long winded explanations are avoided, if at all possible - instead encouraging the student to work it out for themselves.

The idea behind the LD System is that you watch the video, do a quiz in the workbook and then put the lesson into practice. The workbook also contains a set of activities and targets for each practical lesson along with a reflective diary to help you consolidate your learning, explore your progress and plan what you want to do next.
