“For me, it’s always about the connections,” said Violet Wiker, Family Liaison at the Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC). “They’re going to have that connection that goes long beyond this week.”
Since starting her work with the Institute for Parents of Preschool Children Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in 2016, Violet has seen countless friendships and meaningful connections develop at this annual event.
The Institute is a free multi-day program for parents of children ages 6 and under who have hearing loss. Institute participants can build community, access resources and find answers, all in one place.
This video highlights the special friendships and connections from the 2024 Institute.
The 2025 Institute is June 10 through June 14 on the Illinois School for the Deaf campus in Jacksonville.
