The grammar of a language is a codified system consisting of grammatical word classes (nouns, verbs, etc.) and ways of assembling them into phrases and sentences syntax); as well as the expression of grammatical concepts such as polarity, number, tense, modality, etc. Traditionally grammar was divided into two main branches: syntax (sentence structure) and morphology
(word structure).
The principles of "grammaring" as outlined by Diane Larsen-Freeman focus on viewing grammar as a dynamic and functional aspect of language use.
