Mother Tara, like our own mothers, doesn’t judge us. And, like our mothers, she can wear many faces (sometimes the stern disciplinarian, other times, the embracing mother, even a great warrior!). In this way the 21 Taras visualization, based on the Mahasiddha Surya Gupta, is very special.

Each of the 21 Taras has a unique name and praise, mantra, and sadhana, with deeply profound symbolism, attributes and practices.

Chant along, while visualizing her many forms, with the amazing Yoko Dharma the 21 Tara Mantras three times each (there are two mantras for Tara 16, a Peaceful and Wrathful one) -- as transmitted through the great teaching lineage of Surya Gupta.

NOTE: You will see some Thangkas and systems of Surya Gupta lineage with different Taras for Tara 9. This slight difference tends to be along the lines of school-tradition, with Khadiravani Green Tara (as presented here in the 9th position) in the majority of the Gelug Tradition, while in some other traditions and the Jongang tradition, you'll find Varada Tara (red) in ninth.
