PM Modi received a ceremonial guard of honor at Independence Square and was conferred with Sri Lanka's highest state honor, the Mithra Vibhushana. The visit saw the signing of seven crucial MoUs, including an ambitious project for interconnecting the power grids of India and Sri Lanka. This 285-kilometer long high-voltage direct current connection is expected to strengthen energy cooperation between the two nations, with the first phase set to complete soon, enabling a 500 MW transmission capacity.
