"Thanks for downloading our guide!"
[Automated email #1 of 7]
"Just checking in!"
[You've never talked to me]
"I wanted to reach out and see how things are going."
[No you didn't. Your CRM told you to.]
"Happy birthday! 🎉"
[We've literally never met]
We've all been on the receiving end of "relationship management."
• The 7-email nurture sequence where every message is the same.
• The automated check-ins that prove they're NOT checking in.
• The birthday wishes from companies you've never talked to.
• The "touching base" that has no base to touch.
Here's what this actually says:
"You're a task on my list, not a person I care about."
"I'd rather my automation handle you than invest my time."
"Your individual situation doesn't matter—you get the same sequence as everyone."
"This relationship exists to serve my pipeline, not your needs."
Today, on Value-First Humans with George B. Thomas, we're tackling commitment #5:
"Build Genuine Connection, Don't Manage Transactions"
We'll explore:
→ Why automation feels different than connection (and what breaks the illusion)
→ What genuine connection actually looks like in practice
→ The efficiency vs. authenticity tension ("But Chris, I have 1,000 contacts!")
→ How AI can enable connection without replacing it
→ The transaction vs. relationship mindset shift
→ One practical thing to replace this week
This week's challenge: Replace one automated sequence with genuine human connection.
The relief test from last week applies perfectly here:
When's the last time you felt RELIEF getting an automated nurture email?
When's the last time you felt RELIEF when someone actually remembered your situation and reached out with something genuinely relevant?
Be the human that creates relief, not noise.

Your turn: What's the most obviously automated "personal" outreach you've received lately? Drop it in the comments—we might share the best/worst examples on the show.
(And if you're about to send an automated message today, pause and ask: "Would this create relief or create noise?" If it's noise, don't send it.)
