After more than a month without doing any railfanning what-so-ever, I decided to go to Palmer, MA to catch some more CSX action. Little did I know it would be the best trip I would ever have there to date. I started off in West Springfield in hopes of catching westbound intermodal Q019. I arrived at the double crossings at about 6:50am. Q019 didn't depart the yard until 7:40am which is somewhat late for that train. It had a great lash-up including a YN3b AC6000 and two standard cab CSX engines trailing. Westbound empty autorack train Q293 came next about an hour and a half later with two GEVOs. Then L012 showed up right after Q293's power passed making for a great meet. L012 had another great lash-up this time with a DC GEVO, a rare blank YN2 Dash 8 standard cab, and a rare (for this area) YN3b SD40-2 in third. That was great. After that it off to Palmer. The first train there was eastbound loaded autorack train Q264 with a GEVO leading a CW44AC. I was surprised to see that train for I thought it was Q022. New England Central finally made an appearance in the form of 611 from Vermont. It had a trio of yellow SD40-2s leading including an ex-Connecticut Southern unit leading, an ex-Florida East Coast unit and ex-Union Pacific unit trailing. It pulled into the yard at the same time as 610. Eastbound intermodal Q022 was held up by 611 for a few minutes before proceeding over the diamond. It's power including two YN2 units trailing. Not long after he went by a day late Q422 pulled in with a solid cut of just gondolas for Providence & Worcester along with a big pipe load car. Immediately after 422 pulled into the yard the CSX SWAT Train randomly pulled in with two GP40s for power. I had no idea that it was supposed to come by until a nice guy informed me as Q422 went by. It was absolutely insane. That was it for CSX. New England Central 611 left for Vermont with the same power as before and again held up another train this time the Lake Shore Limited 449. After 611 finally cleared 449 accelerated past with FOUR P42s. I was utterly shocked. After that I called it a day. CSX was really busy sending out 7 trains between 7:40am and 2:30pm. It was definitely my best and favorite trip I had to Palmer. I hoped you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching and please rate, comment, and subcribe!
