Last May I had the opportunity to try out Cathay Pacific's A350 economy service on the 11-hour flight from Auckland, NZ to Hong Kong. I had some pretty high expectations, and was't let down. Incredibly attentive service, good food and a solid hard product.
I used Alaska mileage to book this flight (part of a AKL-HKG-YVR itinerary, both on A350s). Not a bad deal either at 40,000 miles. To book Cathay flights with Alaska, however, you can't use their website. I checked availability using the Avios website and called Alaska to book the ticket.
