ABOUT THE PLAY
The Last Shine is a two-character one-act set aboard the Staten Island Ferry on an early weekday morning. The story follows Sal, an aging shoeshiner who has spent a lifetime in transit, and Jules, a frantic young professional rushing toward a job interview he isn’t sure he wants. Through sharp, witty dialogue and unexpected vulnerability, the play explores themes of time, identity, regret, and the quiet rituals that keep us human.
This festival performance brought the piece to life with emotional clarity and humor, showcasing the connection between two strangers caught between boroughs—and between versions of themselves.
