A senior CPI (Maoist) commander, Madvi Hidma, was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the Maredumilli forest area of East Godavari district on Tuesday. Officials said the operation took place in a dense forest patch where a Maoist group was moving.
Initial reports indicated that six Maoists were present during the encounter. A senior officer said personnel acted on specific inputs from the Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) of Andhra Pradesh. Telangana SIB later confirmed Hidma’s identity.
