To keep up with an ever changing world, railroads had to innovate with new technologies and breakthroughs. The diesel-electric locomotive went through many phases throughout its evolution, much like their steam predecessors evolved, going from elegantly streamlined cab units to the utilitarian eco-friendly heavy haul units of today.
Over the years, we've seen many classic examples of diesels at work. From the historic ones still in use on tourist operations, to the many in revenue service today and even on the occasional special, there's lots of variety presented here.
