Simple & Healthy Dal Chawal Khichdi Quick and Comforting

Dal Chawal Khichdi Recipe
Ingredients:
• Toor dal – 60 g
• Chana dal – 60 g
• Moong dal – 60 g
• Masoor dal – 60 g
• Rice – 250 g
• Onion – ½ (chopped)
• Tomato – 1 (chopped)
• Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tablespoon
• Carrot – ½ (chopped)
• Potato – 1 (chopped)
• Green peas (mutter) – ½ cup
• Salt – to taste
• Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
• Water – as required
For Tadka (Tempering):
• Oil – 2 tablespoons
• Ghee – 1 tablespoon
• Cumin seeds (jeera) – 1 teaspoon
• Asafoetida (hing) – a pinch
• Dry red chilli – 1
• Star anise – 1
• Bay leaf – 1
Method:
1. Wash and soak all the dals and rice together for 20–30 minutes.
2. Heat oil and ghee in a pressure cooker.
3. Add cumin seeds, hing, dry red chilli, star anise, and bay leaf. Let them crackle.
4. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden.
5. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears.
6. Add tomato and cook until soft.
7. Add carrot, potato, and green peas. Mix well.
8. Add soaked dals and rice, turmeric powder, and salt.
9. Add water and mix everything well.
10. Pressure cook for 3–4 whistles.
11. Let the pressure release naturally, then mix and serve hot.
Serve hot Dal Chawal Khichdi with curd, pickle, or ghee on top 😋
