Avoid it by: Ensuring all areas are within arm’s reach or accessible via lift-out sections, access hatches, or walkways.

2. Overcomplicating the Track Plan

Mistake: Trying to cram too much track, too many switches, or excessive grades into a small space.
Why it’s bad: This can lead to unrealistic operations, operational issues (like frequent derailments), and a cluttered look that kills realism.
Avoid it by: Focusing on operational flow and scenic balance. Less track often results in better layouts. Prioritize simplicity, smooth curves, and gentle grades.

3. Failing to Plan for Electrical and Expansion Needs
