Intensive Private Training - Knife and Trauma Medicine

A short video from last week intensive private training course regarding two important modules: knife and trauma medicine. We touched topics like pinning and deploying the blade, clinching situation and ground control combined with the deployment of the knife. Trauma medicine is always part of what I teach so we were focusing on injuries created by knives involving massive bleeding or open pneumothorax.
We worked some drills regarding the pinning of the target towards a wall (simulated by the tree) or other object.
In the majority of the systems that are teaching using the knife, the student is learned only to deploy fast his blade and strike the target or already he is starting his attacks having the blade in the hand but in reality all is different. As a protector or an individual that you will use the blade to defend or protect your life or the ones around, you are carrying the blade concealed and you will deploy it only after you identify a threat. In this drills I play the bad guy so I decide when I extract my weapon to attack. My student must first identify that and than take action. He has a reaction to my action. So you can see how hard this it is. This is the reason why I talk about creating distance between you and the target but some times you can be in a confined space and you cannot make that distance. In this case he must use his body and one hand to pin me towards the wall and with the other hand in the same time to extract his weapon. This skills can be improved but still please understand the difficulty of the situation.
