In spring male sand lizards are looking their best, showing off their bright green flanks and trying to impress any watching females. During this time, the males can be particularly aggressive towards one another especially when they encroach on each other’s territories looking for a mate. Whilst carrying out some habitat management work for the lizards, our Gems in the Dunes project officer saw a commotion nearby. After a lot of waiting, he was rewarded for his patience!
Filmed by our Gems in the Dunes Officer, Andrew as part of the national Back from the Brink programme. Find out more about the project at www.arc-trust.org/gems-in-the-dunes
