November Training - Bruce Freeman Rail Trail

For a November two-hour Zone 2 training ride, we rode the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail from the new parking lot in Sudbury up north to Acton. The new parking lot is located at the Sudbury Diamond, marking the intersection of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail with the Mass Central Rail Trail. It was a bit chilly for short sleeves, but moving kept us warm and a cycling cap with ear covers helped too.
I'm three months into training for a Century Ride now and finding the Zone 2 rides to fly by! These are rides where I purposely keep my heart rate below the aerobic threshold, in order to strengthen my aerobic base. I do one long Zone 2 ride each week, between 2-4 hours. And still trying to ride outside while the weather is tolerable.
For a treat, we stopped in West Concord at Eva's Little Kitchen and split a 7 Layer Bar, a deliciously rich goodie!
