Day 2 of the UK Icarus X was just as challenging as day one but for many different reasons. The launch site was damp, uphill and slightly out of wind.
The views once in the air were amazing and I need to learn to get up earlier to make the most of this part of the day.
With a full 20 litres on board I managed to get to my second intended fuel stop Seaton, despite by high fuel burn I managed to recalculate what I would need to get me back.
Topped up again, the slight breeze made the launch easy and I was away despite the mic not being plugged in. The landing at Turn point 4 was almost nil wind which made it interesting land and subsequently launching also.
The final 25 km was all with a tail wind so I zoomed back but I still wanted to be high to not be bashed around too much by the thermals.
Seeing Orchard farm come into view was amazing sight. I was so glad to be back and complete my first Icarus X and arrive 5th out of over 25 pilots.
This video has been made in the memory of a friend and fellow pilot who sadly passed away.
