A unique little train on BC Rail was the school "bus" train operated in the mornings between Lillooet, BC and Seton-Portage. The train was creatively named by students. Its function was to pick up students who lived in a very remote region and bring them to school in Lillooet. In the afternoon the children would board the regularly scheduled train No. 2 of Budd RDCs for the return home. On a 1987 June morning my brother and I were railfanning at the yard in town when the train was setting up for departure. We happily accepted an invite for a ride. At the point where the flying switch was made it was suggested that we film it from the ground and we would be picked up when the train headed back to Lillooet. Uh, OK!
My guess is that we were asked not to film or photograph on that part of the trip to protect the privacy of the students, but this was 1987, so I'm not completely sure why I didn't.
I think some sort of this operation still exists today.
