DIY 5 Min Konjac Fettuccine
Konjac Fettuccine? For those who are not familiar with the ingredient Konjac, it is actually a root vegetable that resembles an unevenly shaped potato. The bulb of the plant – the part of the plant that grows underground – contains a soluble fiber called glucomannan. Soluble fiber is known to absorb water to form a gel-like material and slows down our digestion. It can help lower blood cholesterol and glucose levels. Glucomannan has traditionally been used in Chinese medicine and has been associated with constipation prevention, weight loss, a decrease in cholesterol levels and blood sugar control. You may be more familiar with foods like konjac jelly or shirataki noodles which are both made from glucomannan.
We are loving the range of Konjac rice and pasta by Slim Cuisine that we have in store at Mahota Market. They are packed in convenient individual serving size packs in each box and because they are ‘ready to eat’, most dishes take minutes to assemble! This week, we share a delicious pasta recipe that may be whipped up in just 5 minutes, using their bestselling low carb, keto-friendly Konjac Spinach Fettucine. Check out our fun video to see what our secret time saving hack is (hint: it comes in a can!) and get creative on your own adding various other ingredients like fresh seafood or bacon bits!
