Take a closer look at the Solaris Urbino 18 Hydrogen, unveiled at Busworld Europe 2025 in Brussels — an 18-metre articulated hydrogen bus that combines zero-emission operation with impressive range and passenger capacity. Built on Solaris’ modular SiC drive system, this flagship model showcases how fuel cell technology is scaling up for high-capacity urban routes.
The Urbino 18 Hydrogen is powered by a 100 kW fuel cell, 240 kW central motor, and 60 kWh Solaris High Power batteries, with 2142 litres (51.2 kg) of hydrogen stored in composite Type 4 tanks. It can carry up to 140 passengers, with up to 52 seats available depending on configuration.
Safety and comfort are top priorities: dual CO₂ heat pump air-conditioning systems, full GSR2 and R66 compliance, and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features including Blind Spot Information, Driver Drowsiness Warning, Collision Mitigation, and Electronic Stability Control. Hydrogen-specific safety systems such as leak sensors, roof-mounted tanks, and low-position refuelling connectors ensure the Urbino 18 meets UNECE H2 safety standards.
