This is Tamiya's first DT-03, originally released in 2014, and at the same time this is my first personal experience with a DT-03 and probably my cheapest new Tamiya model.

The finished build is almost bone-stock, with the addition of the essential changes: One 19T Steel Pinion Gear (compared to the stock 17T Aluminium) and 14 Metal Ball Bearings (compared to the stock plastic bushings).

For those familiar with the Tamiya DT-02 chassis series, you will notice that the DT-03 chassis itself makes out the only important change. The remaining parts are pretty much inherited from the DT-02 series. Compared to the DT-02 the whole idea behind the DT-03 must simply be to distribute all weight in the center as well as extend the wheel base. The DT-02 is wide and short and the DT-03 is narrow and long. You can find videos with the DT-02 in my channel to compare.

The kit also include Frog Racing Decals as an option. The slender DT-03 2WD Monocoque Frame and the Neo Fighter Body could indeed take one's mind back to the original ORV 2WD Space Frame and the slender Tamiya Frog Body. An affordable and modern "Neo Frog" or "Frog 2" comes into my mind when looking at the Neo Fighter.
