Scissor Gait Cerebral Palsy Management in Cerebral Palsy Children | Trishla Foundation

Scissoring is a very common finding in children with cerebral palsy. Common causes of this gait pattern are adductor longus & Semitendinosis (hamstring) muscle. At an early age, this problem can be easily managed by cerebral palsy therapy and botulinum toxin but sometimes they may need adductor release.

The massive release of adductor muscle can also cause weakness and reverse deformity may develop. as age advances, they need selective lengthening of these musculo-tendinous units during SEMLOS with intensive therapy. Properly planned treatment protocol can give good gait patterns in these children.

She has also been the ex-program coordinator of the MPH program at the Faculty of Health Sciences, SHIATS, for 13 years.
