Diveagar, also spelled Dive Agar, is a village situated in the Shrivardhan Taluka of Raigad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra, approximately 170 kilometers south of Mumbai. This region encompasses a fishing settlement, a beach, a temple, local enterprises involved in coconut and beetle nut tree farming, as well as various tourism-related businesses such as restaurants, cottage rentals, and hotels. The area comprises six villages arranged from north to south: Velas, Musalmāndi, Agar Panchaitan, Diveagar, Borli Panchatan, and Karle. Diveagar is renowned for the Suvarna Ganesh Mandir, featuring a golden idol of Lord Ganesh, a major attraction for tourists. Unfortunately, the idol was stolen on March 24, 2012, by unidentified individuals.
The beach, facing the Arabian Sea, spans approximately four kilometers and remains undeveloped. At the northern end, near a small stream entering the ocean, there is the fishing settlement of Velas Agar and some paddy farming. Conversely, at the southern end, there is a sanctuary for migratory seabirds. A small fishing village named Bharadkhol, where vendors sell fresh fish, is situated nearby. Access to the beach is available from the Mumbai-Goa highway via Kolad or Karnala.
The beach is adorned with suru trees (Casuarina), common to coastal Maharashtra, and features a dense cover of belu trees, which are uncommon in the area, along the access points.
