Short version. I had the incredible opportunity to provide aerial drone photography for Not Your Mother’s Art Fest 2025 at Slow Pour Brewing in Lawrenceville, GA. The event was an amazing celebration of creativity, community, and local talent.
Artists were showcasing their passion, vendors were offering their craft, and festival-goers were there to experience something special. The sense of community and support among everyone was truly inspiring. It reminded me how events like these bring people together and highlight the artistic heartbeat of Lawrenceville.
I want to give a huge thank-you to everyone who played a role in making this event possible: the organizers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, the vendors and artists who filled the festival with color and creativity, the bands who brought life to the stage, and the local police for keeping everyone safe. Every single person contributed to making this day memorable.
On the technical side, this was one of the most challenging drone shoots I’ve done so far. The event took place within very close proximity to Gwinnett County Airport, which meant the airspace was highly restricted. I had to obtain manual FAA authorization to legally fly in the area, which required careful coordination and planning. While filming, I constantly monitored nearby air traffic, keeping an eye out for incoming and outgoing aircraft while managing flight operations and battery swaps.
At the same time, I was recording separate ground-level audio near the stage using a mic setup to capture the live performances. Balancing aerial filming, ground recordings, and constant airspace awareness all at once was a demanding task — but one that pushed me to grow as both a drone pilot and a content creator.
Despite the challenges, the experience was incredibly rewarding. There’s something special about seeing an event like this from above — watching the crowd, the movement, and the atmosphere all come together from a bird’s-eye perspective. It offers a whole new appreciation for the effort and creativity that go into community festivals like this one.
I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute my work to such a vibrant and inspiring event. Thank you again to everyone involved — and to the Lawrenceville community for continuing to celebrate local art and culture in such an amazing way.
