A story you don’t want to miss.
Meet 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐃. 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞, a young cultural storyteller from Tubungan, Iloilo—one of our 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟏𝟓 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 for the SEATCE Youth Video Contest 2025.
🎥 Her film, “UniTribe: Where Tradition Feeds the Future,” uncovers the remarkable work of 𝐔𝐧𝐢 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞, a plant-based restaurant founded by Ernesto Taguibe and rooted in the heritage of the Panay Bukidnon (Taguibe, Tabuga & Tanate clans).
Here, the ancient craft of “buro” fermentation meets modern culinary creativity—preserving off-season produce, honoring indigenous wisdom, and carrying forward the philosophy of “ancient, with a modern touch.”
🌱 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬:
Kath’s storytelling bridges culture + tourism + digital media, proving that authentic narratives can uplift communities and spark sustainable futures. Her dream? To become a cultural ambassador for Iloilo—grounded in tradition, powered by creativity.
✨ 𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐄 (Southeast Asian Traditional Craft Encyclopedia) proudly highlights stories like this—where heritage, youth voices, and regional identity come alive.
📅 This film will be screened at our Regional Workshop on 10th December.
Stay tuned as we reveal more entries from the Top 15—each one carrying the heart of Southeast Asia’s traditions and the voices shaping its future. 💛🌏
