Our First New Year in Tokyo – Traditions, Food & Best Moments

LiSo in Tokyo! | Tokyo New Year & Ikebukuro Adventures (Episode 2)

Happy New Year from Tokyo! 🎉 Our first time celebrating New Year in Japan was truly special. We started with 7-Eleven snacks, then enjoyed a traditional osechi ryori box. We celebrated at The Peninsula Tokyo with an incredible French fine dining experience and live performances by DJ Kenta, ARAIFUMI, POI LAB, and J'nique Nicole. Huge thanks to our amazing followers for an incredible support throughout this year!

The next day, we explored Ikebukuro, one of Tokyo’s best shopping and entertainment districts. We visited Sunshine City, tried on glasses at JINS Eyewear, and stocked up on Japanese snacks at Muji. We finally tried okonomiyaki in Tokyo for the first time! No trip to Ikebukuro is complete without visiting the Ghibli Store (Donguri Kyowakoku), Gachapon Paradise, and must-visit anime stores. We were thrilled to stumble upon a Gintama pop-up store and a Crayon Shin-chan merchandise store. We finished the day with yakitori and Japanese street food at Daruma Izakaya.

► Muji: Stocked up on special Japanese snacks.
► Ikebukuro Pasutakan: Made our own okonomiyaki on a metal stove.
► Donguri Kyowakoku (Ghibli Store) Ikebukuro: Browsed the magical world of Ghibli merchandise.
► Gashapon Ikebukuro Main Store: Tried our luck at one of the largest gachapon machines in Tokyo.
► Daruma Sakaba: Enjoyed yakitori and chicken meatballs for dinner.
