Trini Black Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

butter (4 sticks)

Flour 4 Cups (sifted)

2 1/4 cups Sugar

10 eggs

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 grated lime peel

1 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon vanilla essence

4 cups cherry brandy fruit mixture (from your previous video)

1 cup rum

Browning (as per your previous video)

Method:

Prep Your Ingredients:
Sift the flour and baking powder together. In one bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until it’s light and fluffy.

Prepare the Eggs:
In another bowl, break the eggs and add the grated lime peel. Whisk until frothy, then remove the lime peel.

Combine Wet Ingredients:
Add the whisked eggs to the creamed butter and sugar mixture, mixing well. Then add the fruit mixture, browning, spices, and vanilla essence.

Fold in Dry Ingredients:
Gently fold in the sifted flour mixture a little at a time until everything is well combined.

Baking:
Turn the batter into two greased and lined cake pans. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 2 to 3 hours. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
