Walking Seattle - UW Link Station to Madison Park, 2025

I was looking at a map and noticed a place called Beaver Lodge Sancuarty in Madison Park, and I had to walk there. We start at Husky Stadium/UW Link Station, walk through the arboretum, past the country club, through Madison Park. According to a local, there used to be beavers at the sanctuary, but none have been seen for several years. However, the group Beavers Northwest (https://beaversnw.org/ ) lists the sanctuary as the site of an active lodge. At any rate, we did not see a beaver. We end our walk at the beach in Madison Park.

Just past the country club, we walk by the historic Samuel Hyde House (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_..., most recently used as the residence of the Russian consul general before the entire Russian Consulate in Seattle was expelled in 2018.

44:20 Madison and 33rd Ave E, Broadmoor Golf Club and gated Broadmoor community to the left for the next 5 minutes
50:10 Woodrow Pl E, left onto Woodrow, go past Samuel Hyde House
52:45 Woodrow and E Garfield St, right for half a block
53:25 Garfield and 38th Ave E, left onto 38th
58:10 38th and E Crockett St, veer left to stay on 38th
1:03:15 38th and E McGilvra Street, turn left
1:03:45 At the end of the street, right onto 37th Ave E, a dirt path that leads in the the beaver lodge
1:06:55 No beavers at the beaver lodge sanctuary, but a nice view looking towards the 520 bridge and Union Bay
1:09:50 Back at McGilvra, head east on McGilvra
1:17:00 McGilvra and 43rd Ave E, right onto 43rd
1:23:20 the end of Madison St, head into Madison Park and beach, which appears to be closed due to high bacteria levels
