Nate Morton Drum Cam 16 - No More Drama

I actually had a few folks message me asking for a drum cam of this performance, No More Drama… it’s lucky happenstance that we shot it because by the time it hit’s the air on NBC, we’ve obviously already performed it and whether or not there’s a ‘drum cam’ of it has already been decided… That said, we did happen to shoot this one and I am happy to share it! :)

It is so exciting to share these drum cam vids because I always think back to me as a kid and if I were watching a show like The Voice, I definitely would’ve been listening to the drums but also wondering and thinking, “What’s that guy doing?” That’s not to suggest that what I’m doing is complex at all… it’s not… but I would’ve wanted to SEE it, so these drum cam videos are really allowing me to come full circle and provide a certain amount of access, via Youtube, to drummers out there who wanna know, “What’s that guy doing?”

That said, at the beginning, I’m hitting an unseen part of the kit… that’s a Roland BT-1 connected to my Roland TD-30 module and I’m triggering some wind chimes… Watching this video, I realize that I really only have about 3 licks… Part of me feels disappointed in myself for being so limited, but the other part of me thinks, kudos for having made it this far with such limited facility! lol…

Some of you have razzed me, asking for better audio and have even suggested various methods of achieving that… well… I hope this satisfies you desires. Our highly esteemed television music mix engineer Randy Faustino, actually created a specifically ‘drum centric’ mix for drum cam 16. For legal reasons, he has subtracted the lead vocal, but in every other way, I’d consider this an elevation of production level. I hope everyone agrees! :) Sadly, I still appear quite chubby and there’s nothing Randy’s amazing mix can do about that!
